U-shaped winder stairs

U-SHAPED WINDER STAIRS (¼-turn)

U-shaped winder stairs are a construction in which the run changes direction by 180 degrees, usually in two shorter flights separated either by a landing or by a set of winders. This layout makes efficient use of space, particularly in multi-storey buildings with a limited staircase footprint.

Depending on the available space, one can choose a version with a landing (for greater comfort) or a construction without a landing, using winders in the corners to save space. The choice depends on technical conditions and the desired level of comfort.

U-shaped stairs work well in single-family houses, multi-level apartments, and renovated buildings where a compact, safe, and return-shaped connection between floors is needed. Their form can be minimal and modern, or more classical with joinery details and full enclosure.

This solution offers great design flexibility, allowing the construction to be tailored to the specific space in terms of both function and aesthetics.
