STAIRCASE PRODUCTION

Woodworking does not like haste. That is why, even with all our commitment, not everything is always in our hands. From the moment you make your decision and we agree on all aspects of the contract, time becomes our shared ally. If you allow us the time to carry out the work with precision, we assure you the result will be both remarkable and long-lasting.

Wood

The main structural material of our staircases is laminated wood, carefully selected for strength, stability, and grain pattern. We work exclusively with high-quality certified timber that is seasoned and prepared for precise woodworking. Depending on the project, we use species such as pine, oak, ash, maple, sycamore, and beech. Each has its own properties, grain, color, hardness, and way of aging. This allows us to match the type of wood to the character of the interior, the style of the building, and the individual expectations of the client. Choosing the right species is an important stage of the design process. It influences not only the appearance and durability but also the acoustics, tactile qualities, and everyday comfort of using the stairs. It is the wood that gives each project its depth and natural elegance, whether it is a contemporary design or a staircase for a historic home.

Plywood

In certain structural elements and in furniture, we use hardwood and blockboard plywood, always of high quality, waterproof, and carefully selected for its function. This material combines lightness and stability with the natural appearance of wood, making it ideal wherever strength is important while keeping weight and deformation to a minimum.

For furniture carcasses, especially in kitchens, we use blockboard – a material with a solid wood core, faced with veneered outer layers. It is a durable and stable solution, well established in woodworking for decades, and far more suitable for custom projects than chipboard or MDF.

Both plywood and blockboard are:
• precisely cut and milled, including with CNC,
• joined either invisibly or with classic joinery methods (such as dowels, biscuits, or mortises),
• finished with natural oils, waxes, and sometimes hand-painted with ecological paints.

All materials we use come from legal, controlled sources and are free from industrial-grade formaldehyde. This ensures not only safe working conditions in our workshop but also safety and peace of mind for you when using them in your home.

Finishing

All surfaces are finished by hand, without spraying and without industrial varnishes, with full attention to touch, light, and the natural texture of wood. Depending on the project, we use oils, waxes, and ecological paints from renowned manufacturers such as Farrow & Ball, Ottosson, and Allbäck.

The Swedish linseed oil paints by Ottosson and Allbäck are durable, breathable, and environmentally friendly. They provide a deep, matte color that ages beautifully and can be renewed without stripping previous layers. Farrow & Ball paints, on the other hand, are high-performance water-based emulsions, also available in versions suitable for floors and stairs.

All paints and oils are applied with a brush, layer by layer, which leaves a subtle texture and a craftsman’s character on the surface – something that cannot be achieved in mass production.

We also apply:
• pigmented oils to highlight the grain and add depth,
• hard waxes for natural protection and a satin finish,
• covering paints for classical, stylized, or contrasting projects.

Some surfaces, such as staircases, built-in joinery, and furniture, are partly finished before installation, with the final coat applied on site. This ensures a uniform effect without damage or touch-ups after assembly.

Finishing is not an addition but a full part of the craft, shaping perception, durability, and the relationship with the user. In a well-made surface one can feel time, the maker’s hand, and respect for the material.

Sustainable development

In our work we follow the principle “less, but better.” We do not produce in excess, we do not use random materials, and we never treat wood as a meaningless raw material. Every project is made to order, in response to a real need, which means we generate no unnecessary waste, do not overstock, and avoid overproduction.

We use only FSC-certified wood, most often sourced from Poland. Plywood and blockboard are chosen with care, ensuring they are free from unnecessary glues, formaldehyde, or additives typical of mass production.

We do not use foam adhesives, synthetic varnishes, or plastics. All paints and oils (Ottosson, Allbäck, Farrow & Ball) are natural, ecological, and fully transparent in composition, safe for both households and the environment.

We also take care of what remains after production:
• wood waste is reused or passed on,
• packaging is reduced to an absolute minimum,
• projects are digitally optimized so that cuts are as efficient as possible.

For us, sustainability is not a trend but a practical and honest way of working. It gives us more freedom, fewer compromises, and the sense that what we create will matter not only today, but also in 10, 20, or even 50 years.
